AKC Graduate Open Obedience Task Card Pack
Graduate Open is a newer optional titling obedience class offered by the American Kennel Club. This class open to all dogs regardless of what titles they have earned. Graduate Open is perfect for the dog who has completed their Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) title but needs more work before working Utility obedience in the trial setting. The exercises here are simplified utility exercises. The Graduate Open level is helpful for building confidence in both the dog and handler who aren't quite ready for prime time in the utility obedience ring. A dog and handler team can earn their GO at this level. Included in this pack are scent articles (4 articles, handler and dog face the pile, only 1 retrieve), moving stand for exam (handler may pause on stand command), and directed jumping (no go out, dog is placed and left in position, only 1 jump.) The various modifications/simplications for the Graduate Open exercises are listed on the task cards. There are 6 specific task cards (4 cards of each task) and 4 Play! cards that make up the Graduate Open task pack. There are 29 cards in total:
- 1 Header Card
- Signal Exercise Cards
- Scent Article Cards
- Go Out Cards
- Directed Jumping Cards
- Directed Retrieve Cards
- Moving Stand and Exam Cards
- Play!! Cards

How to use the Train 'Em Tasks system:
The task cards are to be used with the Train 'Em Tasks linen grab bags. To make your daily training game plan, pull a couple of task cards from your grab bag and train those exercises. For obedience I might pull 3 - 5 cards and work each exercise for 5 - 10 minutes depending on the task. For agility, I will pull two task cards and pick drills, sequences, or a course that will work those tasks. After you have completed your tasks, you can put them back into your bag or set them side until your bag is empty. That way, you can make sure you and your dog work all of your tasks (I personally have a separate bag for spent tasks.)
