Urban Canine Good Citizen Testing Task Pack
The Urban Canine Good Citizen (CGCU) is a new addition to the AKC's Canine Good Citizen program. The Urban CGC test is based on various life experiences a dog living in a large city or metropolis would have to face. Just like the original CGC test, there are 10 test items that are performed on leash. This test must be given in the city setting where there are cars, city noises and streets that need to be crossed. This test isn't given in a training facility or dog show setting. In order to take the CGCU test, the dog must have already passed the original CGC test. The dog must also be registered with the AKC through one of their three registrations (AKC registration number, PAL number, or Canine Partner number.) Some of the test items that this pack features are Ignoring Food on a sidewalk, Negotiating stairs/elevator/ steps, and being able to stay in a building lobby. There are 10 specific tasks that make up the Urban Canine Good Citizen and those play cards in the task pack (4 cards of each task.) There are 45 cards in total:

How to use the Train 'Em Tasks system:
The task cards are to be used with the Train 'Em Tasks linen grab bags. To make your daily training game plan, pull a couple of task cards from your grab bag and train those exercises. For obedience I might pull 3 - 5 cards and work each exercise for 5 - 10 minutes depending on the task. For agility, I will pull two task cards and pick drills, sequences, or a course that will work those tasks. After you have completed your tasks, you can put them back into your bag or set them side until your bag is empty. That way, you can make sure you and your dog work all of your tasks (I personally have a separate bag for spent tasks.)
